I have given this post a number because I anticipate there will be future posts about my body, so this number system will serve as a sub-chronicle. I have all kinds of memories about my body and how I feel about it. When I was born, fat babies were considered healthy and I was a […]

Erin Owen - Wow – you are healthy! And you have a really healthy attitude about your body. Love that! But, as someone who loves kale salad more than lobster Mac and cheese, I am reminded that “one woman’s food is another woman’s poison.” And so it goes…ReplyCancel

Cheeseburger - […] have been craving a cheeseburger for a week or so. Cheeseburgers aren’t on my list of things I tend to crave.  I can’t recall the last time I had one. Maybe it was a day last spring when I was […]ReplyCancel

I have heard of truffles, both black and white, and truffle oils, but I wasn’t prepared for the joy of finding truffle salt! I love all kinds of food stores, from tiny specialty tea or cheese shops to the supermarkets and grocery stores I visit whenever I travel. I love their weird and delicious smells, […]

nlowell2013 - I really like the two ‘Best Thing I Ever Ate/Made’ shows I get so many great ideas- I saw a really great one with Michael Chiarello where he spread polenta across his counter top , and I get to see all kinds of places I’d love to try. Some of the chef’s on FN who I admire are Anne Burrell, Alton Brown, Mario Batali, Ina Garten, and Tyler Forence; they all make straightforward, really good food.ReplyCancel

Erin Owen - A friend and I tossed around an idea last year to write a book called something like “How to Go (Almost) Vegan”, because so many of us have the desire to go vegan… for environmental reasons or health reasons or animal welfare reasons or religious reasons or ethical reasons, and so on. But, it’s quite difficult for most. Thanks for sharing some amazing restaurants in the area where one can get fabulous Vegan fare. I also like Mi Lah Vegetarian (which is actually vegan) on 16th Street and Pure Fare on 21st (which also has non-vegan delights, but features amazingly delicious gluten-free bread from Taffett’s Bakery).ReplyCancel

nlowell2013 - Thanks for you suggestions, I will check them out. I can also recommend some good vegan cookbooks- do you have Veganomincon? It is great! And Mark Bittman has a book How to Cook Everything Vegetarian, and well as VB6 (vegan before 6:00).ReplyCancel
