Turkey tetrazzini is one of my favorite childhood foods, but could I build a better tetrazzini, a meatless one? Mushrooms are often the default meat substitute because of their meaty texture and flavor, but this already has mushrooms in the sauce so I set off for the Sunday Headhouse  farmers’ market in search of inspiration, and […]

If a mom thinks about a cookie, and thinking leads to procuring, and being unsatisfied with procurement leads to baking cookies, which inevitably leads to the most important question there is, soft or crisp? I am a crisp cookie person, my daughter prefers hers soft. When I bake cookies I often resolve this by pulling one batch from the oven […]

Ellen - Definitely soft for me. My favorite? Depends on my mood, but a soft gooey chocolate chip cookie would be in my top 5. Sometimes a really good ginger cookie might hit the spot.ReplyCancel

Liv - I love me a big ginger molasses cookie.ReplyCancel

I was going to write about cookies today, but the news last night from Paris makes cookies seem beyond trivial, and writing about them makes me feel blind and deaf to the world around me. I sit in my quiet Philadelphia kitchen and feel worlds away from the horror taking place all over the planet, not […]

Kate Mahar - I’m sorry there are no cookies today and wish that every day could be cookie day, everywhere. I thought I’d sit down and write on my blog today, too, but I’m not feeling very funny today, either. Prayers for world peace seem needed most.ReplyCancel

Ellen - Everything seems trivial in the aftermath of the tragedy that hit Paris yesterday, and that happens in other parts of the world every day. And yet, cookies still will be eaten, babies will be born, music will be played. That is what gives me hope in humanity, ultimately.ReplyCancel

Aussa Lorens - I know. I found out about it twenty minutes before going in to the see the new Bond movie. I was like “how can I watch a movie right now?”ReplyCancel

Anyone who knows me is aware that I’m not the best housekeeper, though I am usually diligent about doing the dishes. I like to leave the kitchen in order, so I wash all the pots and pans and load the dishwasher before going to bed. I make sure when I come down in the morning I won’t […]

Sarah Honey - Ugh the worst part of cooking! I hate the dishes. It’s all good sometimes to leave it till the morning. Sometimes it’s about taking caring of yourself first. xoReplyCancel

KimM - So, major confession. I hate cleaning. When my husband and I were dating back in high school I used to shovel everything into my closet. I knew he was a neat freak! I still do the same thing today 16 years later! LOL. He likes the house tidy and free of clutter. But with 2 riwdy boys and 3 dogs (2 are great danes), thankfully we have found a happy medium. The one room that is never 100%…our bedroom. Working a few years in food and beverage for Walt Disney World has my kitchen cleaniless standards high 😉ReplyCancel

I didn’t grow up eating mashed potatoes, and when I tell people that my family has never had mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving they are always shocked. I think ours may be the only family in the USA that will not be eating mashed potatoes two weeks from today. I wouldn’t say we never ate them, but it wasn’t […]
