I have been craving a cheeseburger for a week or so. Cheeseburgers aren’t on my list of things I tend to crave.  I can’t recall the last time I had one. Maybe it was a day last spring when I was on my way to pick up my daughter and was a little early, and hungry. […]

Peggy Gilbey McMackin - Hi Nancy, a rather thought provoking and profound Post with clearly a lot of introspection put into it. I do agree our bodies do crave things we need at the time in terms of vitamins and then otherwise. I don’t see a whole lot wrong with enjoying every bite of a big ole cheeseburger now and again though and I think it is deprivation that causes us to want things more and don’t see the benefit in that. Wanna meet to enjoy a cheeseburger?!!!ReplyCancel

Cooking is the sort of thing that is passed down in families, and rarely takes on anything as formal as cooking lessons. We cook the way our moms (or dads) cooked, and this goes way beyond technique, and a penchant for always using the same pan to roast the turkey. The way we cook has […]

Kelly - Peasant food. 🙂 Boston baked beans with hot dogs and Boston brown bread, American chop suey, and special occasion dishes, like roasted lamb or duck ala orange. I can appreciate the fancy, but I prefer the food cooked with love. Great post.ReplyCancel

nrlowell@comcast.net - Kelly, thanks for that great list! I must confess, I have no idea what American chop suey is. I’ve never even eaten Chinese chop suey.ReplyCancel

Cold brew is unquestionably the best type of iced coffee I’ve ever had. I am a complete convert, and since getting hooked I find other iced coffee harsh and shallow flavored. I don’t drink a lot of iced coffee, but when I do it’s cold brew. I can be a bit annoying when I find […]

As soon as I feel the first nip in the air I start planning what fall soups I’ll be making, to me fall=soup! I love soup, and I love Autumn, so I am feeling pretty happy at the moment. Last week I stopped at the grocery store on my way home from the gym. […]

Life with Kaishon - I love your description of the cauliflower you found at the market! The soup sounds delicious. I think I will make soup for supper tonight because it is so dreary and chilly out. That would be a perfect fall meal.

    Have a great day.ReplyCancel

The Natural Products Expo (East) was held last week, and it is a gigantic representation of new food, in all it’s permutations. The show really is massive, and with only one day to see it, I missed way more than I saw, and I saw a lot. Some of the things are saw were really […]

Quirky Chrissy - That looks like all sorts of fun!

I tried the gluten free thing for a while, but it didn’t completely help my problem…I think I have a yeast allergy or something. No clue. I just try to avoid things that make me feel sick.ReplyCancel

Peggy Gilbey McMackin - Hi Nancy,
Interesting. It seems many folks must suffer from some sort of digestive issues for the gluten free product to be developing at such a rapid pace, though it is probably unlikely that many of these suffer from celiac. I like the Fresh Fields Ketchup. Looking forward to some of the other products.
Also, FYI- on Philly, I live in Blue Bell. We should get together some time!ReplyCancel
